My Dream

What do i want? I ask myself everyday What do you want? They ask me too My response to them sounds like a perfectly thought out future Just for me But i realise how caught up i've been in their plans And their dreams And their aspirations For me That i've forgotten the thing that drove me The thing that made my heart reel with passion Somehow, it all feels like what i've always wanted Aligns with what they want But every step feels like walking on hot coals Every single step hurts more than the last And all i really want Is to take steps back Steps back to finding out the purpose of my existence But that is too much to ask What i do want I don't know any more I'm too caught up Trying to make their plans mine Trying to remember what it feels like To be excited with passion for something But i have forgotten What it feels like And i don't know If i'll ever remember Because the feeling feels so strange And i think i'm a bit lo...

THE LITTLE THINGS DON'T MATTER....STOP WASTING TIME!!!

A very credible lesson I learnt and I just really want to share .    ur life can be likened to a glass jar . Put into the jar a pack of golf balls , next , pebbles , then sand , and lastly , pour into the jar a bottle of beer . Put this in the order they've been listed . First the golf balls , this just represents the really important things , things that matter to you : God , family , friends , goals , ambitions , name it ! Next goes the pebbles , they are the other things ,  you decide what they represent . The point is , they aren't as important as the golf balls in your life .      The sand goes in next , the sand represents the smaller things that really don't matter , those things you can always consider doing after you've achieved the bigger things . Those things you can really do without . Now its really left t...

The story- part III

CHAPTER THREE    There was a time when life was a bed of roses. A time of so much laughter, and happiness. A time when there was a father, a mother and two baby sisters whom he adored. That time flew by too quickly. Now, all he remembers of that time is sadness, a sadness so overwhelming it leaves a bitter taste in his mouth.   Bada always knew his father was no saint, but he didn't think the man was the devil himself. He always knew, even at a tender age that life wasn't always a bed of roses. At least that was what his mother told him often. He learnt to expect all kinds of changes, what he didn't learn to do was adapt as quickly as possible so as not to be ruffled.   He was thirteen when his world was flipped downside up. There wasn't much time to hold on to an anchor. No one warned him. It was sudden.

The story- part II

CHAPTER TWO O luwadarasimi was someone everyone referred to as the  ' iron lady' . The total opposite of her twin sister, Omolara. According to Yoruba myth, Dara, as she was often called by acquaintances, came out first, thereby making her the ' Kehinde ' while her twin, Lara, who came out few minutes after she did, was named ' Taiwo ' . They were not identical, but they could be traced to each other.    Lara was the younger of the twins, though she tended to show more maturity. It wasn't really difficult to tell the difference between the sisters. Anyone could see that Dara was not one to bottle up her feelings. She was outspoken, bold and fearless, and also very strict and principled. Anybody who dares inflict pain physically or emotionally on someone she regards as friend or family, would pay with their blood, although not literally. She was a fighter and an advocate in her own right.      Lara on the other hand was the total opposite of Dara. W...

He stepped into the main building, shook the security man's hand, said hello with his irresistible smile to the receptionist behind the mahogany desk. He wanted to create the best impression. This job opportunity he had travelled a long distance to attend mustn't pass him by.     Five years after his graduation from the university, his luck hadn't favored hi..

Divorce

This is one of the commonly or most widely spoken about topics. Simply put, Divorce is the legal ending of a marriage. Divorce, being a legal process involves issues of alimony(spousal support),child custody, child support, and so on. Even though, in a lot of ways, divorce puts an end to traumatic marriages or unfavourable unions, it is still one issue religions and cultures fight against. People who get divorced are accorded little or no respect at all in such religious or cultural societies, and in some of these cultural or religious societies, a second marriage is frowned at.    There are several reasons Divorce becomes the only option left in a scuttle union and some of these reasons include: domestic violence, infidelity(this has become the most common reason), neglect(communication-wise and sexually/emotionally), personality clash, lack of independence, and in some cases, sexual abuse.    Divorce lawyers would testify to the fact that the process of a divorce ...

How we play a part in corruption

Early last week, I was at the fuel station (name withheld) to get diesel for the generator due to the consistent power outage usually experienced in Nigeria. Getting there, I met a queue, so I had no option other than joining the queue. After about ten minutes, a Toyota land cruiser jeep drove in to the fuel station with the driver appearing to be in his mid 30s or early 40s behind the wheel. For no reason, I watched him from where I was. He had approached one of the sales attendants and given the attendant his 25litre gallon in order that he could be sold fuel without having to join the queue (something everyone did). It was finally my turn after queuing for close to thirty minutes or an hour. The sales attendant for no reason decided to attend to the man with the Toyota jeep even though it was clear that other people had been there before him. Everyone that queued for the sale of diesel got upset because some of them had waited long for their turn. Having lain their complaints and d...
